Dead Drop is the twenty-first episode of Season Two and the forty-third episode overall.
When it looks like Percy' s nuclear weapons plan is getting out of control, Ryan suggests they go to the Director of the CIA, Morgan Kendrick, for help. Nikita is vehemently opposed to the plan and is surprised when Michael takes Ryan's side. Tensions escalate when Nikita is proven right after they discover Kendrick has a link to Percy. Meanwhile, Sean is shot by Percy's men, shaking Alex to the core.
|Ryan comes out of hiding to help Nikita and friends secure nuclear triggers from a General Koong. Nikita and Michael go to Berlin posing as buyers. Unfortunately, while Alex and Sean check out the triggers, which everyone figures to be made for bombs. Unfortunately, Division is there also and make a grab for the lead cases. A firefight then ignites. As Alex calls Nikita to abort, she and Michael then subdue both Koong and his men. Sean is soon wounded as Steven, the only surviving Division agent, gets away with the triggers.
Sean is sent for recovery at the team's safehouse. Ryan asks how the mission went. Nikita sourly states that Percy is close to building a nuke. Ryan points out that he needs a missile casing. Unfortunately, he doesn't have time to narrow down any decommissioned missiles and suggests they enlist the help of the CIA. Nikita shoots down the plan, as the last time, two agents were shot, she got blamed and Ryan got sent to federal prison. Ryan assures her that the new director is someone he knows personally: Morgan Kendrick. Nikita recognizes him from when she attended a party as Percy's escort five years ago. She's convinced that Kendrick is in league with Percy but Ryan isn't convinced. Nonetheless, Michael decides to give Kendrick a try.
Ryan makes contact with Kendrick in a restroom, knowing that he's a hypochondriac. Kendrick is surprised to see him, as he gave the eulogy at Ryan's funeral. While Ryan fills him in, Nikita delays Kendrick's bodyguard.
Back at the safehouse, Alex and Birkhoff find Sean out of bed, attempting to reach his government contacts, and force him into bed. Birkhoff then hints to Alex that it's obvious that she and Sean have feelings for each other.
Nikita and the others then return. Though Ryan believes he got through to Kendrick, Nikita reveals she bugged him and eavesdrop on a phone conversation between Kendrick and Percy. As Ryan is in disbelief, Kendrick gives him a call and arranges a meeting at Royce Square Park. Meanwhile, Division tries tracing the call but can't find the team's location. Kendrick then also makes a comment on Ryan's involvement in Operation: Black Sands, stating that if it weren't for his instincts, things would've gone differently. Nikita then states that they must assassinate Kendrick and blame Division for the kill.
At Division, Percy assigns Steven, one of Michael's recruits, to watch Kendrick, who is more than eager to teach his former mentor the meaning of treason.
Sean wakes up and Alex fills him in. Stoned from the painkillers, Sean starts teasing her.
Nikita and Michael set up a sniper position while discussing her issues with government. Nikita cites her various run-ins with government: child services dumped her with Gary, corrupt cops tried extorting Carla and killed her friend, and Division fakes her death. As far as she is concerned, the government treats her as expendable.
Ryan looks up Black Sands and figures that Kendrick is trying tell him something. He recalls that Black Sands involved an asset providing intel on FARC rebels until they kidnapped his wife and forced him into becoming a double agent. Ryan was the only one who figured out that he was under duress. They then try narrowing down what Percy has on Kendrick. Ultimately, they determine that Division put a killchip on his pacemaker. They call Nikita before she could pull the trigger. Their objective has changed to a rescue mission.
They then brainstorm over how to hack the killchip and block the signal. Michael makes contact with Kendrick and moves him as Steven and his team move in. They take him underground into an abandoned subway station, where the chip can't kill him. Getting the operation underway in a storage locker, Kendrick remarks that being part of a power institution, he believed it would keep people safe. Nikita asks if he's implying that he doesn't trust in government. Kendrick states he trusts it but recognizes its limitations. He then asks Nikita to kill Percy if he doesn't make it. Birkhoff then instructs Nikita to take the pacemaker offline for a minute to disconnect the killchip. Despite the danger, Kendrick consents. While waiting for the minute to pass, Kendrick mentions having gone with Percy to boarding school and he wanted to be part of a "club."
Michael defends the two against Steven's team. Though he guns down both of his cohorts, they both run out of out of bullets and fight hand-to-hand. Michael ultimately kills his student by breaking his neck.
Unfortunately, in using an insecure wi-fi link, Division is able to find their safehouse. Luckily, they trigger their proximity sensors. Everyone then evacuates the house and scuttles it on Alex's suggestion, killing the Division team. As they are driving away, Sean starts kissing Alex. Ryan, who is sitting in the front, attempts to speak but Birkhoff shushes him.
At Ryan's safehouse, Nikita grumbles over the loss of their safehouse. However, Kendrick appears present the data they need. Nikita then apologizes to Ryan.
Roan approaches Percy to confirm that the triggers have been incorporated with the plutonium. However, he expresses concern over Nikita still on the lose. Percy states that she thinks he's building a bomb, implying it's something else.
