Plot
Ari meets with Cassandra in London. He too thinks that Max is Ovechkin's son. He then passes her a piece of paper, implying a mission.
Meanwhile, Alex and Sean have uncovered Cassandra as a Gogol mole within MI6 and suspect that Ari plans on using her to kill Sergei Semak. Sean knows that Alex wants Semak dead but can tell she is feeling troubled. Elsewhere, Nikita is patching up the bullet holes in their safehouse's walls. Just then, they get a call from Alex. Shocked to learn that Cassandra is Gogol, Michael is half of mind to go to London alone to get Max. Nikita talks him out of it, reminding him that they can't just raise Max among strangers. Moreover, she is too stressed to think of eventually having kids. She advises confronting Cassandra. In London, Cassandra convinces the MI6 director that Gogol has stolen plans for a drone and they have identified the courier, getting authorization to bring her team to Russia. In Moscow, Alex gets a knock on her hotel door. It is Semak, who accuses her to kidnapping her mother Katya, indicating that she is really missing. Semak asks for her help in finding Katya, for she means more to both of them than Zetrov. As he leaves, Sean figures that Semak is lying. However, Alex believes him. As Cassandra's team sets up in a listening post, one of her teammates start tailing the courier. Just then, Cassandra spots Nikita on the street cam and decides to investigate. As soon as she leaves, she is ambushed by Michael, who calls her in Russian. Cassandra to having been recruited by Gogol when she was nineteen because she was broke and got the chance to travel the world. Now she wants out and this is her last mission, for Max's sake. She states that her mission was to lead MI6 on a mole hunt with phony blueprints. But Michael realizes that her teammate, Stuart, is being led into a trap; Stuart would be killed and framed for Semak's death. As soon as the courier calls Ari to confirm that Stuart is following, Semak enters Ari's office. Ari then takes him away from his protection detail, claiming to having found a lead on Katya. The courier leads Stuart into an alleyway and brings a gun on him, only to be ambushed by Nikita. Stuart radios this new development to his team. Cassandra orders him to abort but he disobeys, believing he can still grab the case, only to be attacked by Michael. Nikita is then able to kill the courier. She and Michael claim to be CIA and take the case. Back at Alex's hotel, she and Sean discuss whether Semak was being sincere. Sean reminds her that though his mother betrayed her country, he would die to defend her. Alex then gets into her interview in an attempt to reach out to her mother. When Nikita and Michael arrive, they pass her a letter from the front desk. It's Katya, stating that she at the old butterfly cabin where the Udinovs use to go. Ari leads Semak into the same alleyway, only to find his man dead. With his original plan a failure, Ari kills Semak. He returns to Zetrov HQ and puts on a big act to his subordinates, claiming that MI6 killed Semak. He orders them to hunt down Cassandra's team. He then calls Alex to confirm Semak's murder. Shocked, Alex realizes that her revenge was not all it's cracked up to be. Nikita and Michael, on the other hand, realizes that Ari intends to kill Cassandra's team. They rescue the team as they are cornered by Gogol. Alex and Sean arrive at the cabin, only to find Division guarding the place. They attack two agents while distracted, only for Katya to step out of the cabin, insisting that Division is protecting her. A surviving Gogol agent reports back to Ari of Nikita and Michael's involvement. Ari deduces that Cassandra had informed them and leaks her identity as a double agent to MI6. The MI6 director calls Stuart to inform him. He then casts a hostile eye on Cassandra. Nikita takes notice. Stuart pulls his gun on Cassandra, as does the rest of the team. Nikita and Michael subdue them and escape with Cassandra, though leaving the case. At the cabin, Alex gets to talking with her mother. Katya tells her how she ran away and Ari put her under Division protection. She then gets a call from Ari, who wants to talk to Alex. As they race back to London, Nikita advises the others to divert Cassandra's former team while she gets Max before MI6 can use him as leverage. Ari and Amanda give Alex a deal: controlling shares for Zetrov in exchange for being let go and gives enough money for Alex and Katya to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. Sean then walks in with a gun to his back. Nikita finds Max in the park with his babysitter. As two MI6 agents are approaching, Nikita quickly subdues them. Max, who was watching, drops his jaw. Nikita advises him to forget he saw that. As soon as Nikita confirms that Max is safe, Cassandra suggests to Michael that they reveal that he's his father. However, Michael is uncertain. Presented with a contract to sign over her shares, Alex grapples with the decision. Katya states that Nikolai built Zetrov by killing. Running that company destroyed both him and Semak and she believes that it will do the same for Ari and Amanda though Sean disagrees. Alex knows that if she signs over Zetrov, then Nikita loses. Amanda reminds that she should no longer concern herself with Nikita. Alex refuses and she and Sean subdue the Division agents. Amanda threatens to hunt her down but Alex isn't concerned; she'll be coming for her. At an airfield, Nikita reunites Max with his mother. She fakes Cassandra's death by blowing up an empty airplane just as it takes off, and she parachutes out at the last second. Now both MI6 and Gogol believe her to be dead. Sean arranges to escort Katya to a safehouse. However, Alex isn't willing to join her, as she still has a fight to win. Michael tells Cassandra that in order for her to disappear, she'll have to sever all contact with him, even if it means Max will never know his real father. He then says his goodbyes. |
