Plot[]
At a church in New York, Alex gets into a confession box to talk to Nikita, who is watching her from a remote location with Michael. Alex tries negotiating for a file off Percy's master black box, revealing that he offered the file on Sergei Semak in exchange for cigars and a lighter, which Amanda forbids. With either Percy or Amanda to go to for help, Alex chose a third option: Nikita. Nikita advises her to walk away and forget about her revenge but Alex refuses, knowing that Gogol has put a hit on her. Nikita decides to take her request under advisement. But, as Alex is leaving, she is tailed by Roan.
Back at Birkhoff's, he finds the file on Semak but discovers nothing of notice. However, he has discovered Nikita's birth certificate and may be able to track down her real parents. Amanda confronts Percy over using Alex to get to Nikita. Percy admits that his motive in helping to catch Nikita is to bargain for some sunshine. Looking on her birth certificate, Nikita sees her mother's name but her father's name is listed as Rybat. Michael recognizes the name as a CIA code for classified. As there is no more info on Nikita as Birkhoff erases info on Division recruits and he can no longer hack into the CIA database, Nikita decides to break into Langley HQ, despite Michael's protests, because she's on the CIA's most wanted list. In a flashback to September 2004, Nikita taunts a Division teacher during a sparring session, then fought dirty with him before beating him savagely after he insulted her as an orphan. To prevent her from being cancelled, Michael is assigned to watch over her. Before they go to sleep, Nikita and Michael discuss about families. The former then refrains from telling him that Max (from Looking Glass) is his son, but he mistakes her being pregnant. Michael then agrees to help Nikita find her family. At Alex's apartment, she receives a call from Birkhoff, who tells her about the Semak file, revealing that Percy played her. He advises her not to be strung along by his old boss. At CIA Archives, College Park, Maryland, Nikita and Michael get the files but have to fight their way out. Amanda informs Percy of this development and has a shrewd idea of whom Nikita's looking for: Richard Ellison. She shows Percy a photograph of an island, before tearing it in half, taunting Percy for losing this round. Nikita and Michael come to 343 Walnut Lane. When there's no answer at the door, Nikita decides to break in. Inside, she soon fights against Richard himself before Michael arrives with his gun. Nikita tries telling Richard that she's his daughter, which he finds hard to believe, as he found her grave. He admits that he's a fugitive, having spotted six men digging a well with a well-armed brigade in 1984. The higher ups refused to investigate and the next thing he knew, he was charged with smuggling heroin out of Tailand and forced to go on the run. Suddenly, a Division strike team led by Roan attack Richard's house. Using smoke grenades and Michael covering their backs, they escape via boat and bring Richard back to Birkhoff's. Though Nikita offers to help clear his name, but is refused. Richard tells her that he may not be what she was looking for. Down in Percy's prison, Alex says that she's not trusting him ever again. Percy admits that his intention was for her to complete a mission from seven years ago. In the middle of the night, Nikita catches Richard up at night. He apologizes for his earlier behaviour before telling her how he met her mother and her subsequently drop off into foster care. Back with Percy, he tells Alex that Amanda advised him to have Nikita look for her father to control her anger issues. But he didn't tell her the whole truth because it's not true, which Alex guesses. Richard Ellison is not her father, but rather part of Percy's plan to motivate Nikita years ago before Michael pulled her off it. As he explains, Nikita always wanted to know where she came from. So he fabricated the file on the black box, which if she found out, would've made herself believe that she was "intelligence royalty." While talking with Nikita about a potential family with Michael, Richard learns about Max. Meanwhile, Roan's team is closing on their location but are waiting for Richard to retrieve the black box. Birkhoff wakes up, hearing an alert on the computer. It is Alex, who warns of Richard's real identity. Just then, Richard has a gun to Birkhoff's head and threatens him to get the black box. But Birkhoff soon fights him, creating enough noise to alert Nikita, who soon realizes that he's a fraud. As she beats him up, she demands to know where her real father is before Michael restrains her. Tying Richard up, Nikita threatens him with torture, making him confess that he's actually Division, having taken the identity of an actual CIA agent who was actually guilty of his crime and died in prison. He was trained for this operation seven years ago and was surprised when the op was reactivated. He managed to get to Walnut Lane before they did. He tries bargaining his release and the black box for their lives but Nikita knows that Amanda would just cut him loose for failure. Just then, Roan's team assaults the safehouse. With fire coming in on all sides, Nikita tells Birkhoff to call in his UAV drone, at the risk of killing them all. When Michael is hit, Nikita rushes to his side, just as Birkhoff fires his drone. They and Richard survive the blast. Just as Richard gets out of his bounds, Nikita shoots him dead. Next to Richard's body, Roan has revealed to have survived. Alex goes to tell Percy that Nikita had escaped. However, Percy reveals that he knows she warned her old partner. And if Amanda finds out about this, then their partnership would be terminated. Though Alex thinks that Amanda won't believe him over her, Percy smugly asks her that if she can pass a lie detector test again. He demands that she do what he says or he'll expose her. Getting out some new vehicles, Birkhoff promises to find them a new safehouse and drives off. Nikita apologizes to Michael for not seeing Richard for what he really was. He apologizes back for not seeing it sooner and tells her that there's still a chance that her real family is out there. Nikita then tells him that she didn't kill Richard out of revenge, but to protect Max's identity. This leads to silence between the two of them. |
